Antonia Tosini, director and screenwriter. She's been living in Neaples for more than thirty years despite her honest, solid and respectable family has got Central-Northern Italy origins (Abruzzo/Romagna). Her father as a young man was a cameraman, that's why, since her childhood, Antonia has been involved with movies. Her love for motion-picture industry as well as her passion for books, paved the way to Antonia's artistic souls. She's been loving art, beauty, friendship, pure feeling, Love ever since; everything her sensitivity suggested her, in order to get the idea, the inspiration. In the first years of her youth, Antonia started writing diaries, poems and short stories, in the well-known “Giornalino dei piccoli” (thanks to her primary school teacher) where she used to tell stories about her fabulous world of a young girl and about the emotions she felt staying with her friends or in the contact with Nature and the Universe. Her longing for the world peace, her pacifist spirit, non violence, her respect of human rights are the result of a deeply rooted and valuable familiar education, as well as of the “life proofs” regarding all human beings which at a time happen to marking one's soul with sorrow, instability and uncertainty thus making it strong and mature. Such condition of suffering proves to her like an input, a sign of her artistic expression. So she starts writing works with a psichological and social background. Antonia has always been showing a great sensitivity towards poor children and youth, living in straitened conditions. That's why some years ago, she founded together with her husband, composer M° Tony Sorrentino and her sons, the jazzmen Massimo e Daniele, “Teatro Studio Taus” an “Onlus” Association, to support the rehabilitation of physically disabled young people and the recovering of street urchins. (without neglecting adult people with diseases) through theatre therapy, under the supervision and guide of psychiatrist, Prof. Vincenzo Falabella.
Antonia is the author of the work “The book of life- Social euthanasia”, edited by Graus, where she tells in a very surreal way, about the story of two young parents who kill their new-born child because of his deformity. At present she's working on some new tales, drawn from her film treatments as well as on a new book, “The doors of the mind”.
In the 80's she begins her artistic career as assistant director of Giuseppe di Martino. Then she collaborates as assistant and author of textes together with Rino Marcelli. After many collaborations and partnerships with the scriptwriters Paolo Angeloni, Andrea Mastrandrea and with the Algerian director Rachid Benhadj, Antonia decides to devote herself mainly to write plays and scripts for the theatre. In 2005 she wins the INTERNATIONAL AWARD “SCRIVERE CINEMA” thanks to a script dealing with diversity.
For years she's been collaborating as screenwriter with CIC.CINEMA INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS in Roma, founded by the producer Giuseppe Colombo.
Antonia is honoured to be chosen as the Italian Ambassador for the “GOOD WILL TREATY" world peace movement and intends to offer all her availability and commitment to better collaborate in the search and building of a better world, based on real solid principles, where diversity can become a source of richness to explore; where value is recognized, whether of one's individuality, or community as a whole.
