A passion is an intense desire or enthusiasm for something, for me it had been photography and sports, specifically fishing, baseball, snow and water skiing. It was not until after I was divorced, before I begin to see the errors in my passions. I then aligned my passions with my priorities successfully. Faith, family, friends, fishing and then food. Food, fishing and friends may on occasion change positions depending who's cooking and what is being cooked.
My imagination has most often been described as 'out there.' Somewhere. My creative expression with personal interactions, writing and photography is very different then the imagination in my head. The major difference is how others perceive me and who I think I am. I have absolutely no reason too, but I am very insecure (middle child syndrome). The other issue I deal with every second is the result of being an adult with OCD, ADD and dyslexia.
Personal prayer is very important to me and I spend quality time each morning praising God for the things I have and don't deserve. In prayer, I'm not much of an 'asker;' I'm much more of a 'praiser.' I am well aware of just how small and insignificant I truly am when compared to the whole world, but the Creator of all cares about me. He is the ultimate friend and name to drop.
I have always been a man of facts and proof and I am often asked, "How can you believe in God?" My answer is, "I am confident because of a strong faith derived from the fact it makes logical sense to me." How God created the world is not as important as the fact that He did. Even though scientific discovery totally fascinates me. Why He created man is much easier to understand, because we're 'cool.' Faith is very important to me because I can trust God to keep His promises, even-though at times I fail to keep mine.
For me, taking chances was so much more than just a survival characteristic; chance is where the root of my salvation took hold and grew into a mountain of spiritual satisfaction. When it comes to 'thinking outside of the box,' I don't think there is a box.
I'm not an expert, I've never attended college and I don't have anything to sell. I'm just a regular guy that loves being alive, and writing about that love.
God bless,
Dennis
