Dear Am,
It's funny you mentioned that one of your friends was a blues or jazz musician. I was born into a musical family. My father is a jazz sax and flute player, so I heard live music from birth. By the age of ten, I could pick up any instrument and learn to play it in a few minutes. I ended with the SGI's jazz band and played at the Buddhakon Auditorium with a four piece jazz group. We toured all over Japan and even played at the Osaka World's Fair back in the 70's. I met Daisaku Ikeda many times. I went on five Tozans to see the Dai Gohonzon and one time backed up this girl duo called "The Peanuts," who were popular in Japan at that time. One time I spent the night at a Senator's house. The family cooked Sukiyaki right on the living room floor. It was delicious. I want to go back to Japan very soon, but the economy is really bad right now in America and no one can afford to go on vacation or buy extra things, until this bummer blows over. My Mother just passed away last week and we had a nice Buddhist Ceremony for her. I hope both of your parents are still alive. Please give them my best and tell them they raised a beautiful daughter. Sincerely, Wayne
