Ouch. I don't see how you surfers can go out there like that- that takes a lot of nerve....well I don't know what it takes lol and then to go out in conditions like that! I don't know....and I bet it took all your strength to call for someone....and what if they didn't hear you?! I couldn't do it no matter what. That is a crazy hobby lol

Dear Lakenya,
Sorry about the mix up. I have some art I did when I was in high school that I sure wish I could get back, college too. We had one little hurricane that lasted about five minutes. It was pretty cool, but a little scary. The scariest thing that ever happened to me was surfing right after a hurricane hit Mexico and brought us huge waves. I was out near Malibu and it was all stormy and creepy. All of a sudden this "rogue wave" that must have been 30' tall from top to bottom, came right towards me. I paddled like crazy to get over the top, but it threw me back down and my body hit this reef. I barely made it to the surface and was gasping for breath, with more waves on the way. As I was yelling for help, this friend of mine who lived at the surf spot saw me and gave me his surboard to float in on, while he swam in. He was much younger than me, but knew the place like the back of his hand. I was so greatful, it was like a guardian angel saved my life, as I was in really deep water and panicked, which I never did before. I would have surely drowned. I wish I could locate the young man that saved me, but I can't find him anywhere.

Wait Wayne that was my niece's work. She's two years old as much as I would like to take credit for it lol. I'm teaching her and I hope she follows in my footsteps and even does better. The flower: we did together as a lesson and the other two are her very first independent ones. I don't have the nerve to show my work when I was five lol. Too embarrassed when I put it along with my current work. Plus I can't find the ones my elementary school kept.

And oh my gosh I'd take a hurricane over a earthquake any day. Especially with children. Have you ever been through one(hurricane)? It's fun when no one gets hurt. It's like a reason to hold on to your family and eat junk food until it all blows over.

Dear Ellie,
Welcome to the Artist's Group. I checked out your work on your page
and I really like your style. It has a very feminine and happy vibe.
Did you major in Art or are you self taught? It really doesn't matter, as your art has a professional look to it. Congratulations, Wayne

Dear Lakenya,
I was blown away by the artwork you did when you were just a small child (the red & black abstract). You showed the budding talent of an artist at an early age. I'm also glad to hear that you only suffered minor damage durings Katrina's destruction. I live in California and was an adult when two mammoth earthquakes hit in the 70's and the last big one in 1994. The last one was really scary. It started out slow, then it felt like the devil literally had a hold of our house and was jolting it up and down. Glass was breaking everywhere, TV sets were falling over, etc. I went upstairs to my son's room. He had a water bed and slept right through it. My daughter's dresser and hutch toppled over and just missed hitting her head. Our townhome held up, but we had cracks all over the place and mostly broken vases, planter's and things like that. So, I thank the "god's" for watching over my family. Peace, Wayne

Dear Lakenya,
Thank you for joining the Art Group. It would be nice if you could add some of your artwork or maybe a website, either on this site, or your own People Linking.com page.
