Hello nice people .. my real name’s Peter, otherwise known as Pete, Ped, Pedro, Nature Boy, as far as the civilised names for me go .. there are far more that I wouldn’t tell you about here .. if you meet my wife just ask her and she’ll rattle you an assortment off : )

What can I tell you about me .. helped out on the previous McGill Forum but hadn’t been around a lot of late as I’m currently being tossed around in the tumble dryer of life .. let’s just hope I come out all warm and fluffy once the cycle’s done eh!!

I work in the oil and gas industry so get to travel the world a bit .. have just returned from Pampa Melchorita in Peru .. a wasteland of a place .. but you know, when you’re standing there early on a morning and you look left and the sun is rising through the mist over the incredible Andes, or when you look right on an evening and the sun is setting over the vastness of the Pacific as the dolphins play in the water, it kind of makes it all worth while. I’ve been to some amazing places and I’ve been to places where you’d break your heart if you saw what I did. I’m very fortunate to be in a position to have experienced all those things I have on my travels though. Whether good or bad, every time it teaches you something about yourself .. how you feel about certain things .. how you react .. how you perceive life .. other people .. other cultures .. and helps you to know and understand what is truly in your heart. It is a lesson that never ends though and I am a more than willing student. I like to learn from the things I experience myself as much as I do from all those people who are a lot more interesting and wiser than me. I think about stuff a lot .. probably too much I guess – lol – but I’m the pondersome sort .. comes with the territory of being alone so much : )

I love the simple things in life .. the ocean (where I’ve spent much of the last 3 years), the stars, warm summer rain, walking along the beach, sunset, that sort of thing .. everything that is free for us all to enjoy if we only open our eyes and minds. I also love photography and wish I could take it up seriously as a hobby .. but right now I simply don’t have the time or the resources, so I just carry my little digicam everywhere with me. I also like to write, though I only do so occasionally when I’ll scribble the odd poem if a few lines come to me .. and that’s it really .. I’m very happy to be here .. very happy to see how the McGill phenomenon continues to grow .. and so very happy to meet you all.

Be blessed .. feel happy .. feel loved .. always,

Ped

Can you put up some platform pictures? I'll bet you have some great sunset shots.

God bless,

Hello Dennis,

The thing about being situated on working gas platforms offshore .. is that you're not supposed to take any pictures without having a permit allowing you to do so and also a hand-held gas detector for taking a reading around you every time you want to take a snap. As far as health and safety law goes .. the 'click' of a digital camera is a potential ignition source for any rogue gas pocket that may be around. Taking pictures without express consent and the relevant documentation was an instant dismissal offence on the projects I've worked on my friend .. so unfortunately all I have are some incredible and beautiful memories .. might be able to dig out some shots from my Nigerian exploits though .. I'll post them when I find some.

Thanks for taking an interest .. you have a great day sir,

Ped
